ALICE IN CHAINS ANNOUNCE U.S TOUR
BAND POSTS NEW SONG ONLINE
NEW ALBUM BLACK GIVES WAY TO BLUE IN STORES SEPTEMBER 29
About “A Looking In View,” Alice In Chains vocalist/guitarist Jerry Cantrell says, “The song basically speaks to any number of things that keep you balled up inside. A cell of our own making with an unlocked door that we choose to remain in. Focusing our attention inward instead of reaching out to a much larger world. I think this is common to us all. It’s funny how hard we fight to hang on to a bone we can’t pull through a hole in the fence, or how difficult it is to put down the bag of bricks and move on.”
On July 18th, Alice In Chains will be sharing the stage with Kid Rock at Comerica Park in Detroit, to be followed by festival shows with Metallica overseas, including an August 1 date at Marlay Park in Dublin and an August 2 show at the Sonisphere Festival at Knebworth. They’ll wrap up the international trip with a string of headlining dates, set to kick off August 4th with a sold-out performance at London’s Scala. On August 22, they’ll join Tool and Linkin Park for the first-ever Epicenter show at the Fairplex in Pomona, CA, to be followed by a headlining tour set to kick off September 4th at the 9:30 Club in Washington, DC. Tickets for the U.S. shows will be available Friday, July 10th. For information, please visit www.aliceinchains.com.
BLACK GIVES WAY TO BLUE is the band’s first new studio release in more than 10 years. The quartet (guitarist/vocalist Jerry Cantrell, drummer Sean Kinney, bassist Mike Inez and vocalist/guitarist William DuVall) recorded the album with producer Nick Raskulinecz (Rush, Foo Fighters) at Studio 606 in Northridge, CA and Henson Studios in Hollywood.
Over the course of their remarkable career, Alice In Chains has garnered multiple Grammy nominations, sold more than 17 million albums worldwide, wrote and recorded 11 top 10 hit singles and stood atop Billboard’s Top 200 Album Chart with two No. 1 records.

Sick Puppies’ TRI-POLAR Set To Take Off July 14
May 15, 2009
Produced again by the hit team of Rock Mafia’s Antonina Armato and Tim James, Tri-Polar reflects the band’s grueling travels on the road, along with the frustrations that build up along the way, on songs like the first single, “You’re Going Down,” which is being used by the WWE as the theme song in its promotional spots from May 17 through June 15 for the Extreme Rules Pay Per View broadcast.
Sick Puppies also recently had the opportunity to contribute a track for Street Fighter IV video campaign called “Street Fighter (WAR),” which will be featured on Tri-Polar and is currently available on iTunes.
Before launching their own headlining tour and summer festival dates, Sick Puppies will play Rock on the Range in Columbus, OH, on May 17, Pointfest Eve in Maryland Heights, MO on May 22 and KPNT’s Pointfest in St. Louis, MO on May 23. These festival dates are followed by two months’ worth of co-headlining dates with Hurt with Veer Union supporting. The tour will kick off in Pomona, CA on July 9, stretching throughout the Midwest to the East coast, followed by closing dates on the West coast.

JOSS STONE TO PERFORM AT HEADCOUNT’S NOVEMBER 3RD "GET OUT THE VOTE PARTY" IN NYC
Oct 16, 2008
JOSS STONE TO PERFORM AT HEADCOUNT’S NOVEMBER 3RD
"GET OUT THE VOTE PARTY" IN NEW YORK CITY

Stone to Unveil New Song, "Governmentalist," Exclusively at HeadCount.org
New York, NY – October 16, 2008 — Leading voter registration group HeadCount announced today that multi-platinum soul singer Joss Stone will appear at the organization’s November 3rd "Get out the Vote Party" at the Highline Ballroom in New York City, performing her new song "Governmentalist" and other favorites. The song is also available for free download at www.HeadCount.org beginning today, and through a link emailed to HeadCount’s 100,000-person database. It will also be available on www.JossStone.com and later released on her new album, due out next year.
Stone joins an all-star lineup which already includes Robert Randolph, ?uestlove (The Roots) and Stanton Moore (Galactic) among many other at the Nov. 3rd event.. The concert will be held on Election Eve and streamed live on the Internet on iClips.net, spreading the "Vote" message to a limitless number of viewers.
Stone was first inspired to write "Governmentalist" in response to criticism she received from a U.K. government official after she spoke out against the poor medical care of Iraq War veterans. The 21-year-old British citizen then decided she wanted make her voice heard in the U.S. election in some way, leading to her involvement with HeadCount. Although unable to vote in this country, Stone is a member of the young demographic that has become increasingly politically active as the election approaches. "Governmentalist" captures the passions of her generation and its desire to hold government accountable.
"The U.S. election really does impact the entire world," said Stone. "While I can’t vote in this country, I want to do what I can to inspire others, especially young voters, to make their voices heard. I can’t think of a better way to release ‘Governmentalist’ than to partner with a group like HeadCount that actively encourages voting."
Stone has sold nearly 10 million albums worldwide and won the 2007 Grammy Award for best R&B performance by a Duo or Group. She has appeared on stage with James Brown, The Rolling Stones, Stevie Wonder, Elton John, Patti Labelle, Mavis Staples, Donna Summer and Smokey Robinson, and performed in front of more than 200,000 people at the Live 8 Concert.
The November 3rd "Get Out the Vote Party" marks a rare New York City appearance for Stone as well as fellow Grammy-nominee Robert Randolph. Only 500 tickets will be sold to the general public for this event, which will serve as a benefit for HeadCount’s nonpartisan voter mobilization efforts.
Tickets and more information can be found at www.magichat.net/participation, as Magic Hat Brewing Co. is the presenting sponsor of the event. Absentee ballot applications can also be accessed from that site, as HeadCount is reminding anyone attending the concert from out-of-town to fill out an absentee ballot in advance.
"We’re excited to welcome Joss to the long list of musicians who’ve become involved with HeadCount," said HeadCount co-Chair Marc Brownstein, the bass player of the Disco Biscuits. "Speaking for myself and all the other musicians who are performing, I can tell you we’re all excited about sharing the stage with Joss."
The concert will be the final event of HeadCount’s year-long campaign to mobilize young voters. The organization worked with artists such as Dave Mathews Band, Jack Johnson, Pearl Jam to register over 100,000 voters this year, staging voter registration campaigns at nearly 1,000 at concerts.

Iggy & The Stooges gear was stolen on the morning of Aug 4 in Montreal, Canada.
Aug 05, 2008
NEWS FLASH 8.5.08
The Detroit Free Press reports that Iggy & The Stooges gear was stolen on the morning of Aug 4 in Montreal, Canada. Take a look at the equipment and keep an eye out for the instruments. Of course the band is continuing their tour with new and borrowed equipment.
"The Michigan-bred rock band is counting its losses after this morning’s theft of its rented tour truck, packed with all of the group’s instruments and stage gear.
The equipment’s dollar value is estimated to be in the tens of thousands, said Eric Fischer, the band’s road manager. But he described some items as priceless -- including the vintage Gibson bass that had been Mike Watts’ go-to instrument since his Minutemen days in the 1980s.
“That bass would go in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame someday if we could find it,” said Fischer. “We’re all just gutted.” more from the Detroit Free Press here

INTRODUCING JOSS STONE DEBUTS AT NUMBER 2 ON BILLBOARD ALBUM CHART AND GOES TOP 10 IN MORE THAN 15 COUNTRIES
British Soul Star's Introducing Joss Stone Is The Highest Chart Debut
Ever For a Female British Artist In the Soundscan Era
March 28, 2007 — New York, NY — With her album's Number 2 debut on Billboard's Top 200 Album chart this week, soul singer and songwriter Joss Stone leads a bona fide British chart invasion by female artists that includes KT Tunstall, Corinne Bailey Rae, Lily Allen, and Amy Winehouse. Introducing Joss Stone, the Grammy-winning star's third album, sold 118,000 copies in its first week, and is not only a personal best for Stone, but the highest-ever chart debut by a female artist from the U.K. since Billboard began deriving chart information from Nielsen SoundScan data in 1992. Worldwide, the album is an instant smash having gone Top 10 in more than 15 countries.
Introducing Joss Stone, which features special guests Common and Lauryn Hill, has received glowing reviews since its release by Virgin Records on March 20th, including four stars from People Magazine. “Stone employs her remarkable instrument with focus and nuance, and the result is an album full of solid pop-wise R&B,” says Rolling Stone, while other critics have praised it as “quite sexy and incredibly retro-cool,” “raucous and adventurous” and “proof that Stone is the true heiress to Aretha Franklin as this generation's queen of soul.”
Introducing Joss Stone was produced largely by Stone's main musical collaborator, Raphael Saadiq (The Roots, Macy Gray) and features lyrics written or co-written by Stone herself. “It's the first album that is truly me,” the 19-year-old Devon, England, native says. “These are my words, and this is who I am as an artist.”
Undoubtedly, the first-week success of the album was aided by several national television appearances that represent the range of Stone's diverse audience, massive multi-format video play of the clip for the album's first single "Tell Me 'Bout It", and a creative and far-reaching new media campaign. Within hours of her performing “Tell Me 'Bout It” on NBC's The Today Show, Introducing jumped from Number 4 to the Number 1 spot on online retailer Amazon.com’s sales chart. Stone also appeared on The Late Show with David Letterman, CBS’ The Early Show's Second Cup Cafe, MTV's TRL, PBS’ Tavis Smiley and was the lead guest and musical performer on The Late, Late Show With Craig Ferguson. Upcoming TV appearances include The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on April 23rd and a special two-song performance on the ABC ratings juggernaut, Dancing With the Stars on April 24th.
In addition, Stone has enjoyed unprecedented support from such video outlets as VH1 (Gung Ho rotation), VH1 Soul, MTV (Big 10 rotation), mtvU, MTV Hits, The IMF, The N, and Music Choice. To top it off, Stone is the first artist to be featured on VH1's new series VH1 Album Autopsy, which will give viewers an in-depth look at the making and launch of Introducing Joss Stone.
On the Internet, Stone made a huge splash on AOL's Sessions, WalMart's highly popular Soundcheck series, which ran both online and in all the Number 1 U.S. retailer's stores, and Yahoo! Live Sets. The latter attracted so many viewers that she received more than two million clicks of her featured photo gallery. Upcoming live online appearances are also scheduled to air on iTunes Sessions, VH1.com, and MTV.com.
On April 27th, Stone will launch her first proper North American tour in nearly three years, which continues into June, making special stops at the Jazz & Heritage Festival in New Orleans and the annual Summerstage concert series in New York City's Central Park. On July 1st in London,
Stone will appear alongside Elton John, Bryan Ferry, and Duran Duran at the “Concert For Diana” — a charity event organized by Princes William and Harry to celebrate the life of the late Princess.
To check out the video for "Tell Me 'Bout It," listen to streaming audio, and watch Stone's new video blog, please visit jossstone.com. Or visit her MySpace page.

Fountains Of Wayne's Schlesinger Provides Music And Lyrics for "Music And Lyrics"
Feb 20, 2007
For Valentine's Day, Fountains Of Wayne's Schlesinger Provides Music And Lyrics for "Music And Lyrics"; New Fountains Single "Someone To Love" Previewed Online*
"Music And Lyrics", the romantic comedy starring Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore opening this Valentine's Day, features three original songs written and produced by Fountains Of Wayne bassist and songwriter Adam Schlesinger.
The film tells the story of Alex Fletcher (Grant), a washed-up 80's pop star who gets a chance at a comeback when he is asked to write a new song for reigning pop diva Cora Corman (played by newcomer Haley Bennett). He teams up with Sophie Fisher (played by Barrymore), an aspiring writer who becomes his lyricist and of course his love interest in the film.
All the lead vocals in the film were performed by the actors themselves. Schlesinger wrote "Way Back Into Love", the song that Grant and Barrymore's characters struggle to "write" throughout the film; it is heard several times in the movie, including a "demo" version performed by Grant and Barrymore themselves, and a lusher "Madison Square Garden" version performed by Grant and Bennett. In addition, Schlesinger wrote two songs performed solo by Grant: a wistful piano ballad entitled "Don't Write Me Off", and "Meaningless Kiss", a hilarious 80's pastiche that is supposedly one of the "hits" from his character's glory days. "Meaningless Kiss" also features backing vocals by legendary ABC frontman Martin Fry.
Another Schlesinger composition, "Work To Do", performed by the group America, is used as an end credit song in the film, and songs by Fountains Of Wayne and by his other band, Ivy, can be detected in the background of various other scenes.
"Music And Lyrics" is not Schlesinger's first foray into the movie world. He was nominated for an Academy Award and a Golden Globe for "Best Original Song" for his title song to the 1996 Tom Hanks'-directed "That Thing You Do," and has since had songs appear in numerous other films.
In related Valentine's Day news, the new Fountains Of Wayne's new single, "Someone To Love" will be previewed on a special Valentine e-card available online at http://www.virginrecords.com/tools/fountainsofwayne/ecard/mailer.html. "Someone To Love" is the leadoff track on the upcoming Fountains Of Wayne album, 'Traffic And Weather", to be released April 3 by Capitol Music Group.

Additional DJ dates with LCD’s James Murphy and Pat Mahoney will also be announced.

Bands Battle it out in EA’S Burnout Bandslam!
Feb 16, 2007
EA, MySpace, Virgin Records and Epiphone support emerging music talent in international search for a future star; one U.S. and one European winner get a demo recording contract and track featured on future Burnout™ videogame
Redwood City, Calif. - February 13, 2007 - Electronic Arts (NASDAQ: ERTS) and MySpace, the world’s leading lifestyle portal, have today announced an international search for the hottest new bands in the United States and Europe, in collaboration with Virgin Records and Epiphone. EA’s Burnout™ Bandslam started accepting entries on MySpace (http://www.myspace.com/burnoutbandslam) from February 6, 2007.
Burnout Bandslam offers unsigned bands from across the United States and Europe the chance to showcase their best track in front of a potential global audience of over 80 million MySpace users, all of whom will be able to vote for their favorite track online.
The winning bands - one each from the United States and Europe - will each receive a Virgin Records demo recording contract and a chance to have their song included in a future Burnout videogame. One runner-up band from each country will become the proud owners of one top-of-the-range Epiphone Les Paul Custom Guitar*.
"Many of the biggest bands around the world have been first discovered through EA videogames, and now we are expanding the opportunity to unsigned bands through this year’s Burnout Bandslam,” says Steve Schnur, worldwide executive of music and marketing for EA. "The Burnout videogame series is all about attitude and rebellion. So I look forward to discovering a band or two which fits that definition.”
"MySpace is dedicated to providing musicians around the globe the ability to share their music and connect with fans online,” said Shawn Gold, SVP of Marketing, MySpace. "This partnership is part of our ongoing efforts to provide creative and passionate artists with a platform to be seen, heard, and connect online in order to get to the next level.”
"EA has consistently broadened the lanes where music and interactive gaming intersect, and has proven that video games are a rich platform for the discovery and enjoyment of new and established artists, so a collaboration between Virgin and EA has great logic," noted Jeff Kempler, COO, Capitol Music Group. "Partnering with EA in this exciting artist discovery and development contest is a perfect fit for Virgin's dedication to innovative and expansive interaction with creative talent and music fans wherever they may be."
"Epiphone is proud to be involved and associated with this year’s Burnout Bandslam and the game Burnout™ Dominator. Music, talent and excitement are all part of the Epiphone tradition and makes our partnership the perfect fit,” said Henry Juszkiewicz, Chairman and CEO Gibson Guitar, Epiphone’s parent company.
The Burnout videogame series is developed by EA’s Criterion Games studio and is one of the most acclaimed racing videogame franchises of all time. Burnout Dominator is currently in development for the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system and PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) system and due for release in March 2007.
For more information about the Burnout videogame series, please visit the EA press web site at http://info.ea.com, the official Burnout videogame homepage at http://burnout.ea.com or Criterion Games at www.criteriongames.com
For more information about the Burnout Bandslam Contest check out http://www.myspace.com/burnoutbandslam/ beginning February 6, 2007. To view complete Contest Official Rules. NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. Void where prohibited. Eligibility restrictions apply.

k-os Descends Upon America...
Feb 02, 2007
February 20th is U.S. Release Date for ‘ATLANTIS - Hymns for Disco’ - ‘Late Show With David Letterman’ TV Appearance - Tour with Gym Class Heroes Kicks Off - And Warped Tour Slot Are Confirmed
NEW YORK - With the February 20th release date of his bracingly eclectic album ATLANTIS - Hymns for Disco approaching, the unique Toronto-based, Trinidad-born Virgin Records alternative artist k-os is on course for a multi-tiered breakthrough.
On the night of his album release, k-os will perform on The Late Show with David Letterman, just as he kicks off a coast-to-coast U.S. tour, sharing the stage with Gym Class Heroes, RX Bandits, and P.O.S. (Dates through early April 2006 are listed below.)
Over the course of the February, k-os will figure prominently in VH-1 Soul’s celebration of Black History Month, with the February 19th world premiere of the album’s multi-format lead-off video, the uplifting and irresistibly melodic "Sunday Morning." k-os will join a host of progressive voices from around the world as a featured artist in the cable channel’s weekly music video program "One Planet. One Soul," alongside Joss Stone, Corinne Bailey Rae, Akon, Floetry, Ayo and others.
Shortly thereafter, k-os will join the Vans Warped Tour ‘07 this summer. "I think k-os is the perfect artist to appeal to anyone that is open-minded about music," comments Warped Tour founder Kevin Lyman. "I could see him playing with anyone from Rancid to Talib Kweli -- and winning over their fans."
"Sunday Morning" was already greeted with immediate airplay in diverse Top 40, Modern Rock and Hot AC formats at its Canadian release, late last year. Also on ATLANTIS - Hymns for Disco, Sam Roberts and Kevin Drew (Broken Social Scene) make an appearance on the lush "Valhalla," while indie-rappers Buck 65 and Kamau help close the album with the stirring "Ballad of Noah."
Addressing the unbounded musical and spiritual breadth of the album, k-os said: "When an artist expresses their truth honestly and with a pure heart, they can end up speaking for a myriad of people. From a very specific experience can come a general understanding and healing."
We Are Scientists Nominated ‘Best International Band’ in NME 2007 Awards
Feb 01, 2007
We Are Scientists’ Unique Indie Rock/Dance Fusion Sells Out European Headline Shows
NEW YORK - Confirming the unmistakable breakthrough of Virgin Records rock trio WE ARE SCIENTISTS to a place among the world’s top bands, the group is one of five nominees for Best International Band in the Shockwave NME Awards for 2007. In the category, the band joins American stars The Killers, My Chemical Romance and The Strokes, along with Brazilian party-rockers CSS.
WE ARE SCIENTISTS (Keith Murray, guitar and lead vocals; Chris Cain, bass guitar and backing vocals; Michael Tapper, drums and backing vocals) have been on an inexorable year-long upswing, performing in every corner of the globe with Arctic Monkeys, Bloc Party, Maximo Park and the Kaiser Chiefs, before launching their own headlining tour. After a summer of playing music festivals throughout Europe and Japan, WE ARE SCIENTISTS drew throngs of dancing fans, selling out nearly two dozen consecutive houses in headline shows across Britain, Ireland, Germany, France and Holland.
Meanwhile, the band’s play dates in North America’s clubs and theaters and their debut Virgin Records album, WITH LOVE AND SQUALOR, released early in January 2006, drew top-of-the-list critical applause for its “ice-pick guitars…full-bodied, emo-ish rush…artful sonics (and) focused songwriting,” all adding up to a “dance-punk alchemy” (Rolling Stone). The New York Times admired WAS’s “pointy guitars…firecracker drums (and) full-on lust panic.” “An indie-rock Marx Brothers,” added Spin, while Giant concluded: “For now, at least, they’re at the head of their class.”
Sick Puppies spread Free Hugs in Worldwide viral outbreak...

AUSTRALIA’S SICK PUPPIES SPREAD FREE HUGS IN WORLDWIDE VIRAL OUTBREAK
RMR / Capitol Music Group Will Release Sick Puppies Album April 10 2007; ‘ALL THE SAME’ Video Is Historic YouTube Smash, Igniting a Global ‘Free Hugs’ Movement
NEW YORK - RMR / Capitol Music Group will release the debut album from Australian indie-rock trio SICK PUPPIES which will arrive accompanied by an unprecedented worldwide virtual group hug -- thanks to a video for the song / first single, “ALL THE SAME,” that’s become one of biggest viral sensations on the Internet sparking over 10 million views on YouTube alone and making it the #10 most viewed video of all time on the site.
In the group’s first year of existence after meeting as high schoolers in Sydney, the irresistibly persuasive guitar-powered melodic rock of SICK PUPPIES had already won them the title of “Best Live Act” at the Australian Live Music Awards; critical praise as “the most dynamic new band in the country” (Rolling Stone Australia), and the breathless description “so young, so accomplished, so now” (Ground Zero).
SICK PUPPIES frontman Shimon Moore and bassist Emma Anzai, dubbed the female Flea, had relocated to Los Angeles picking up American drummer Mark Goodwin along the way, when Moore created a video to the band’s song “ALL THE SAME,” featuring a much-loved local Sydney eccentric, Juan Mann, who stationed himself at a busy mall with a hand-written placard offering unconditional free hugs. The local council attempted to ban Mann from the street over a “public liability issue,” but the story created a groundswell of support instead, and a 10,000-signature petition convinced the council to back down.
Subsequently, the appearance of Mann’s free hugs on YouTube.com in the SICK PUPPIES music video created an exponentially greater response: shot and edited by Moore as a cheer-up tribute to Mann, the “ALL THE SAME” video (viewable at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vr3x_RRJdd4) drew over 10 million views, and sparked a intercontinental movement, transplanting Mann’s free-hug campaign to such far-flung areas as Spain, Israel, Russia, Brazil, Portugal and Japan.
A chorus of support has also risen from broadcast, cable and online media setting up a massive welcome for the U.S. album debut of SICK PUPPIES, (Title TBD) through RMR / Capitol Music Group, scheduled for April 10, 2007. KROQ LA made "All The Same" their first add of 2007 just off hearing the music from the "Free Hugs" video. That love has spread to stations across the country with stations like Q101 in Chicago, Live105 in San Francisco, 89X in Detroit, KCXX Riverside, WBTZ in Burlington and KROX in Austin adding the song early.
Vh1 celebrates with Joss Stone and K-OS
Jan 31, 2007
Vh1 Soul and famed film director Spike Lee kick off black history month this february with a new awareness spot on how viewers can determine their african ancestry.
VH1 Soul Also Celebrates Month with Original Programming and World Premiere Videos By Some of Today’s Biggest Names in Soul and R&B Including Joss Stone, Musiq Soulchild and K-OS
NEW YORK, January 31, 2007 -- VH1 Soul is kicking off Black History Month this February with a new awareness spot directed by acclaimed producer/writer/director Spike Lee for SpikeDDB promoting DNA-based ancestry tests that can help viewers genetically determine where in Africa their African ancestors came from.
The tests, from African Ancestry, Inc. ( www.africanancestry.com ), do not involve needles or blood, but instead require people to collect their DNA by rubbing a swab along the inside of their cheeks. As part of the company's confidential testing process, its laboratory scientists compare the collected DNA cells to over 25,000 genetic lineages in the African Lineage Database T, which includes both maternal and paternal lineages representing over 30 countries and over 200 ethnic groups. The results help transform lives by providing profound self-understanding. Viewers will be eligible for a discount on the cost of the service.
The 30-second spot debuts on VH1 Soul on Thursday, February 1. The spot features several African-Americans initially mentioning the American cities that they are from. The people are then featured again, holding swabs and naming the African region that their ancestors are from. The spot then encourages viewers to take pride in their original homes during Black History Month and learn more by going to www.vh1soul.com.
"Promoting the work of African Ancestry is a perfect way to expand on our on-air celebrations of Black History Month by encouraging our VH1 Soul African-American viewers to learn about their own history," said Nigel Cox-Hagan, Senior Vice President, Creative Group and Consumer Marketing. "We’re truly honored that Spike Lee is sharing his incredible talents and vision with us on this project."

The Almost to release Debut Album "Southern Weather' 4.3.07
Jan 29, 2007
A Joint venture with Tooth & Nail and Capitol Music Group
- BAND SHOOTS VIDEO FOR FIRST SINGLE "SAY THIS SOONER"
- SET TO IMPACT RADIO FEBRUARY 14
- WEST COAST TOUR BEGINNING MID-APRIL TO BE FOLLOWED BY EAST COAST TREK IN MAY
- VANS WARPED TOUR PERFORMANCES ON TAP FOR THIS SUMMER
After wrapping a successful January headlining trek, THE ALMOST--the brainchild of Underoath drummer/vocalist AARON GILLESPIE--have announced they’ll release their debut album SOUTHERN WEATHER April 3 through a first-ever joint venture with Tooth & Nail and Virgin Records. Meanwhile, the group recently shot a video in Southern California for their first single "Say This Sooner," helmed by Shane Drake (Panic At The Disco, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus).
THE ALMOST scored the #1 most-played ranking on PureVolume some four-plus months in advance of SOUTHERN WEATHER’s April 3 release. The first week "Say This Sooner" was up, it received over 100,000 combined plays on PureVolume and MySpace. Currently, the combined plays for THE ALMOST have already reached over 1.5 million.
GILLESPIE--who sings and performs virtually every note and instrument on his solo debut--teamed with acclaimed producer Aaron Sprinkle for SOUTHERN WEATHER, and while the two had never met, AARON was a big fan of Sprinkle’s work with Pedro The Lion. "Aaron is an incredibly talented producer," says GILLESPIE. "And it turns out we have a lot in common. He wears a lot of hats and plays every instrument. He’s able to open up your eyes and make you think about things you can do on an album that maybe you didn’t think about." While some artists might find themselves overwhelmed by the prospect of working as a solo artist, Aaron says he was motivated by the experience. "I’m used to working in a band environment," he admits. "So that was a shift. But when I hit my stride, I could just go for things. I didn’t have to explain what I was looking for to someone else or over-think anything."
Gillespie plays from the heart on SOUTHERN WEATHER. Throughout the album AARON incorporates pieces of his youth. "I grew up in the Deep South," he says. "Like anyone, I’ve had struggles along the way. But I am very much informed by Southern values and I think the songs speak to that."
The album kicks off with the attention-grabbing, percussion-driven anthem "Say This Sooner" which is set to impact radio February 14. "It’s about dealing with misunderstood intentions," says GILLESPIE. "And the frustration of being judged on someone else’s misconceived perceptions." Other album highlights include the alt-country inspired "Dirty And Left Out," which features a guest vocal collaboration with Sunny Day Real Estate singer Jeremy Enigk; the inventive Thursday-meets-Oasis vibe of "Everyone Here Smells Like A Rat;" and the breathtaking, undying roar of "I Mostly Copy Other People," which benefits from the bass and guest vocal work of The Starting Line’s Kenny Vasoli.
THE ALMOST will head out for a West Coast tour beginning in mid-April, to be followed by an East Coast trek in early May. Expect dates and venues to be announced soon. Later this summer, the group will join the Vans Warped Tour for select dates. On the road, GILLESPIE leads THE ALMOST on vocals and guitar and is joined by: Jay Vilardi (guitar), Nick D’Amico (guitar), Alex Aponte (bass) and Kenny Bozich (drums).

Introducing Joss Stone...
Jan 17, 2007
INTRODUCING JOSS STONE VIRGIN RECORDS TO RELEASE JOSS STONE’S NEW ALBUM MARCH 20TH JOSS TO PREVIEW THE ALBUM VIA SOLD OUT LIVE\ PERFORMANCES IN NEW YORK AND LOS ANGELES
New York, NY - British soul singer and songwriter Joss Stone will release her third album, Introducing Joss Stone, on March 20th on Virgin Records. An electrifying mix of warm vintage soul, ’70s-style R&B, Motown girl-group harmonies, and hip-hop grooves, the album is the one that Stone describes as “truly me. That’s why I’m calling it Introducing Joss Stone,” she says. “These are my words, and this is who I am as an artist.”
Knowing she wanted to write the album alone, Stone decamped to Barbados in April to come up with lyrics. She stayed for several months before flying to the Bahamas to hook up with her main musical collaborator and producer Raphael Saadiq (known for his work with D’Angelo, The Roots, and Macy Gray). “Raphael [who plays bass on the album] is the most incredible musician I’ve ever met in my whole life,” Stone says. “Musically, I feel like he reads my mind. I’ll give him a look and he’ll know exactly what I want.” Stone and Saadiq spent two months recording in the Bahamas, and then mixed it at the legendary Electric Lady Studios in New York City.
Other musical collaborators include rapper/singer/songwriter and producer Novel, who is the grandson of soul legend Solomon Burke and has written songs for Kelis and India.Arie, as well as Beau Dozier, son of Motown legend Lamont Dozier, whom she wrote with on her last album, 2004’s gold-certified Mind, Body & Soul. The album also features guest vocal appearances by the rapper Common on “Tell Me What We’re Going to Do,” and reclusive Fugees singer Lauryn Hill, who lends a rap to the languid Fugees-inspired track “Music.”
Stone first emerged on the music scene as a preternaturally gifted 16-year-old with a “rich, deep, soulful belt,” as the New York Post put it, calling her “unlike any singer of her generation.” In 2003, she released The Soul Sessions, an album of covers of obscure soul tracks, hit the road for a year, then recorded Mind, Body & Soul, her first album of original material. Stone was nominated for three Grammy Awards in 2005, including Best New Artist, and performed a tribute to Janis Joplin with Melissa Etheridge at the ceremony.
Over the course of her career, Stone has also appeared onstage with James Brown, The Rolling Stones, Gladys Knight, Patti Labelle, Mavis Staples, Donna Summer, Smokey Robinson, Rob Thomas, John Mayer, and John Legend. She has performed for more than 200,000 people at the 2005 Live 8 concert in London and most recently wowed the crowd with her rendition of Dusty Springfield’s “Son of a Preacher Man” at the UK Music Hall of Fame Awards in November. Now 19, Stone has sold over 7.5 million albums worldwide.
The following shows are confirmed for Joss Stone:

30 Seconds to Mars brings home Platinum
Jan 03, 2007
BAND’S SECOND VIRGIN RECORDS ALBUM,
‘A BEAUTIFUL LIE,’ IS A MILLION-SELLER
YEAR-LONG RADIO PLAY, SELLOUT TOURS AND TWO SMASH VIDEOS POWER A PLATINUM JOURNEY
HEADLINING ROCKSTAR TASTE OF CHAOS 2007
NEW YORK - A BEAUTIFUL LIE, the second album by Virgin Records’ 30 SECONDS TO MARS has been certified platinum for U.S. sales of over a million copies, the label announced today. The album was released on August 30, 2005.
30 SECONDS TO MARS has rarely been off the road, the radio, or the music video screen over the past year. "The Kill" has been on the national Modern Rock airplay chart for over 40 weeks and counting, following its #3 peak - giving 30 SECONDS TO MARS the longest run on the chart of any other band in 2006. Two tracks by the band, "The Kill," and the current single, "From Yesterday" are currently in the top 15 on the Modern Rock chart.
"The Kill" has won the band a series of awards and nominations from MTV, FUSE, mtvU, and Billboard for its magnetic performance footage and evocative images inspired by the Stephen King / Stanley Kubrick classic "The Shining". The thirteen minute long epic short film / video for the current single, "From Yesterday," is even more ambitious enabling 30 SECONDS TO MARS to become the first American rock band ever to shoot a music video entirely in the People’s Republic of China. "From Yesterday" was again directed by the band’s reclusive inspirator Bartholomew Cubbins with hundreds of warriors, acrobats, and even fireworks in a massive display of art, culture and storytelling inspired by the Chinese dynastic period.
30 SECONDS TO MARS just wrapped up headlining the MTV2 $2 Bill "Welcome To The Universe" tour -- also dubbed the "Environmentour" for its conscientious use of earth-friendly alternatives. They will next headline the Rockstar Taste of Chaos tour which kicks off February 15th in Seattle.
The Stooges set to release in 2007...
Jan 02, 2007
The Stooges to release "THE WEIRDNESS" - their first album in 33 YEARS on March 20, 2007.
Reunion albums are one thing. A Stooges reunion album is something else entirely.
On March 20, 2007, the band that predated punk and helped make rock and roll dangerous will release their first studio album since 1973’s seminal Raw Power. The Weirdness will feature three of the four original bandmembers – singer Iggy Pop, guitarist Ron Asheton and drummer Scott Asheton -- along with ex-Minutemen and fIREHOSE bassist Mike Watt and original Stooges sax player, Steve Mackay.
The Stooges wrote over 30 songs for the record at a cottage in Florida early this year, then rehearsed in Ann Arbor, Michigan before they entered the Chicago studio of esteemed producer Steve Albini (Nirvana, Pixies) in early October. The album is being mastered in the UK at the legendary Abbey Road Studios. Tracks on the album include: "Trollin'," "Greedy Awful People," "Claustrophobia," "Mexican Guy," "I'm Fried," "ATM," "O Solo Mio," "She Took My Money" and "End Of Christianity."
Iggy decided to reform The Stooges in 2003 while he was working on his solo album Skull Ring. He called the Ashetons, who still had the same phone number he had last called them on 25 years ago. The brothers agreed to contribute to four songs on the disc and the reunion seeds were planted. Then on April 27, the full band (with Watt on bass) played its first show together in 30 years to a spellbound audience at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Coachella, California.
A triumphant reunion tour followed, and in 2005 The Stooges were nominated to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. They didn’t win, but were recently nominated again for induction at the upcoming ceremony to be held in early 2007.
If any rock band deserved Hall of Fame kudos it’s The Stooges, one of the most influential, powerful and explosive outfits ever to plug in a guitar. Formed in Ann Arbor in 1967, the Stooges were a forceful poke in the eye of commercial rock. Volatile and incendiary, the band wrote grimy psychedelic blues songs that grooved, droned and stomped in equal measure. Onstage, Iggy was commanding and menacing, cutting himself with glass, smearing his body with peanut butter and baiting the crowd out of its complacency.
The group’s volcanic energy earned it a record deal in 1968 and a year later, the Stooges released their self-titled debut, which featured the proto-punk classics “I Wanna Be Your Dog,” “No Fun” and “1969.” In 1970, they followed with the heavier, more confrontational Fun House, which many consider the band’s finest hour. Three years would pass between Fun House and Raw Power, a primal, powerful slab of gyrating clamor from a band on the verge of physical and psychological collapse.
By the end of 1973, the Stooges had broken up. In the decades that followed, Iggy established himself as a successful solo artist, releasing 15 studio albums between 1977 and 2003. Meanwhile, Scott Asheton played in Scot’s Pirates, Sonny Vincent’s Rat Race Choir and Rock Action and Ron Asheton rocked with Destroy All Monsters, the New Race, the Empty Set and Dark Carnival. In 1998, Ron joined forces with Watt and members of Mudhoney and Sonic Youth in the one-off supergroup Wylde Ratttz, an experience that paved the way for Watt to join The Stooges.
One of the most eagerly anticipated albums of 2007, The Weirdness is destined to be as inspiring, unpredictable and undeniable as the three records that preceded it over three decades ago. The release of the album will be followed by a full world tour that will clearly display the energy, vitality and freshness of one of rock and roll’s greatest success stories. In other words, the legacy continues…

Bat Out of Hell III: The Monster is Loose was produced by hit-maker Desmond Child, and completed with the close participation of two key Bat Out of Hell veterans: Todd Rundgren, contributing vocal arrangements, and Jim Steinman, writing seven songs. Mixed by Grammy Award winning studio engineer Greg Collins (U2, Gwen Stefani), with string arrangements by David Campbell, this final installment of the Bat franchise includes special guest appearances by Motley Crüe bassist Nikki Sixx and Rob Zombie guitarist John 5 (ex-Marilyn Manson) who co-wrote the title track with Child, as well as guitar hero Steve Vai appears on the record and is a co-writer. SINGER-SONGWRITER’S MILLION-SELLING VIRGIN RECORDS DEBUT STILL GOING STRONG AFTER NINE MONTHS IN RELEASE; TUNSTALL ADDS DECEMBER TOUR DATES
NEW YORK - Taking a well-deserved place alongside the artists who most defined the music of 2006, Virgin Records singer-songwriter KT TUNSTALL will be among the announcers of the 49th Annual Grammy Awards nominations. The nomination announcements will take place in Los Angeles on Dec. 7, 2006. Among Tunstall’s scheduled fellow announcers are Mary J. Blige, James Blunt, Rascal Flatts, and Justin Timberlake. Winners will be awarded at Grammy ceremonies at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Feb. 11, 2007, to be televised on CBS.
With album sales and public demand driven by continuing radio and television exposure of her album, Tunstall will also be touring the U.S. in early December (see dates below.) Tunstall’s EYE TO THE TELESCOPE album has sold over 1 million copies in the U.S, and is certified quintuple-platinum in Tunstall’s native U.K. Worldwide sales have exceeded 3.5 million copies.
Tunstall has been viewed as a Grammy frontrunner ever since the U.S. release in of her album in February 2006, when the unique pop-blues kick-off single "Black Horse and the Cherry Tree" immediately became one of the year’s most durable radio and video hits. It held the national No. 1 spot at the Hot AC format through most of July and August, and, months later, remains Top 5 in national Adult Contemporary airplay.
The follow-up smash, "Suddenly I See," is now in the Top Ten in Hot AC airplay, and is also continuing to rise in Top 40 airplay. Numerous tracks from the album have also been featured in the country’s highest-rated television programs, including Ugly Betty, Grey’s Anatomy, American Idol and Will and Grace, as well as in the smash film comedy, The Devil Wears Prada.
In mid-October, Virgin Records released Tunstall’s Acoustic Extravaganza, a special CD/DVD package containing new acoustic songs, "unplugged" versions of two album tracks, and in-studio documentary video footage. The million-selling EYE TO THE TELESCOPE album has also been released in a special deluxe CD/DVD package, adding a new track, "Immune" to the CD. The DVD collates every music video from the album (including both U.S. and U.K. versions of the "Suddenly I See" clip), and adds five exciting live performances from her concerts in Washington D.C. and New York.
Over the course of the year, the singer-songwriter also took a leadership position among concerned artists by adopting a broadly eco-conscious approach to her career, announcing at the outset of her U.S. headline tour that she would travel in a bus modified to run on environmentally-friendly biodiesel fuel.

30 SECONDS TO MARS MAKES MUSIC VIDEO HISTORY: SHOOTS IN THE PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC OF CHINA AN EPIC JOURNEY THROUGH HISTORY, TIME, AND CULTURE
Absorbing and Expansive "From Yesterday" A Lavish, Cinematic Follow–Up To Multi Award–Winning Music Video "THE KILL"
MTV "Primetime Premiere," MTV2 "Unleashed" and MTV2 "Makes A Video" Premieres November 20, 2006
NEW YORK – With their second album A BEAUTIFUL LIE nearing platinum status, Virgin Records’ 30 SECONDS TO MARS will unveil another career milestone with an epic and astonishing new music video for the album track "FROM YESTERDAY," becoming the very first American rock video ever shot in its entirety in the People’s Republic of China.
"From Yesterday," encompasses a complex story surrounding the history and culture of a multi–millennial period, while depicting fantasy, violence, and even sexual perversity. Breaking new ground with both the location and in utilizing cutting edge technology by being one of the first videos ever presented in HD, the group visualized "From Yesterday" as a massive screen–scape shot in Super 35 film, finished in HD, and captured in 5.1 surround sound – all of which helped build on the mystery and surrealism of the song itself.
"I thought that shooting in China would be the perfect setting to explore the visual possibilities for this song. The depth of their history, the beauty of the culture and the passion of the people inspired a story that left us as a band changed forever," said lead singer Jared Leto.
With a level of style and substance more along the line of short film than any typical music video, "From Yesterday" was directed by Bartholomew Cubbins, the press shy, reclusive director who also directed the much–honored previous 30STM video, "The Kill."
Shot in the Forbidden City and the Emperor Qin palace, "ambitious" only begins to describe the sheer scale of the production, which included hundreds of costumed extras and warriors in an elaborate set design inspired by the empires of ancient Chinese Dynasties, with classical Chinese opera, hundreds of flags, acrobats, swordsmen, martial artists, and even a massive show of fireworks arrayed in an eye–popping, breath–taking visual that is unforgettable. Through a translator Cubbins had only this to say about the experience, "the condition of the prison I stay is atrocious....although the food is surprisingly good. I love eggroll. If anyone could contact the Danish embassy it would be appreciated... Tel # 51.25.33.27.6225. I not guilty."
On Monday, November 20th at 10:00am, MTV2 will premiere 30STM "Makes A Video" for "From Yesterday." They will also air the special extended version of the film immediately following the program. Repeat airings will continue throughout the week. You will also be able to see the full extended special version of the film on MTV.com, MTV2.com, and 30secondstomars.com. Also that day, MTV2 will premiere the "Unleashed" world premiere of the video throughout the day and MTV will air the video in its "Primetime Premiere" special at 11:00pm.
"From Yesterday" follows one of the most–honored videos of 2006, "The Kill." A No. 3 Modern Rock airplay hit, "The Kill" was nominated for two MTV Video Music Awards – Best Rock Video and the MTV2 Award. It won the MTV2 Award. FUSE named 30STM lead singer Jared Leto "Prince of Darkness," and honored "The Kill" as the Best Video Inspired By Film. It also won the mtvU Woodie Award for Best Video (Live Action).
30 SECONDS TO MARS is currently headlining the MTV2 $2 Bill "Welcome To The Universe" tour –– also dubbed the "Environmentour" for its conscientious use of earth–friendly alternatives. After some select shows in December, they will next headline the Taste of Chaos tour beginning February 2007.

Meat Loaf Enters the Top Ten in the U.S. Charts

‘BAT OUT OF HELL III’ IN U.S. TOP TEN ALBUM ENTRY NO. 8 U.S DEBUT JOINS WORLD-WIDE RUSH TO NEWEST EPISODE OF ROCK FRANCHISE
NEW YORK - November 8, 2006 - Culminating thirteen years of pent-up demand, MEAT LOAF’s BAT OUT OF HELL III: The Monster is Loose, crashed into the Billboard Top 200 national album sales chart at No. 8. The album was released last week in the U.S. and Canada by Virgin Records America. The album was the highest charting debut in Canada this week at #3.
The album, the epic third installment of rock’s greatest franchise, was also released throughout Europe last week, racking up a trail of chart-busting sales statistics: it entered national charts as the No. 2-selling album in Germany and holds it’s position this week, No. 3 in the UK, No. 3 in Canada, No. 4 in Switzerland, No. 5 in Austria, No. 5 in Denmark, No. 6 in Norway, No. 8 in Holland, No. 9 in Australia, No. 10 in Sweden and No. 5 in New Zealand. The album is to be released in Southern Europe, Southeast Asia and Japan early next year.
Predicting the fan and critical mania that greeted the release of the album and his recent trans-Atlantic theatrical presentation of his Bat Out of Hell trilogy, MEAT LOAF said recently: “The Bat just has a life of its own, so you can’t say you’re gonna top it or you’re gonna beat it, you just have to try to do something special.” The album’s release was preceded by a lavish, evocative video clip of “It’s All Coming Back to Me Now,” co-starring Marion Raven, who is featured with MEAT LOAF on the album track, written originally by Jim Steinman for him at the time of the first Bat Out of Hell album.
U.S. critics agreed universally that Meat delivered an album fully worthy of the three-album, three-decade ‘Bat’ franchise. Raves in the trade and consumer press included: “…Meat Loaf delivers his most impassioned vocals since the original ‘Bat’ in 1977.” (Entertainment Weekly, 11/3/06, Chris Willman); “Thirty years after the original "Bat" made Loaf a star, he returns with ‘Bat III,’ a disc that recalls the original's theatrical bombast, anthemic melodies and guitar shred.” (New York Post, 10/29/06, Dan Aquillante); and “Loaf delivers an album that fans are going to love.” (Billboard, 11/4/06)
Coinciding with the album’s release, MEAT LOAF starred in a series of sold-out one-night shows staged at London’s Royal Albert Hall, New York’s Palace Theater and Toronto’s Elgin Theatre. Two additional shows are now scheduled, at Estes Theater in Atlantic City, New Jersey, and at Mohegan Sun, in Uncasville, Connecticut. Each of the show’s three acts is devoted to the songs of the albums, in sequence, with the third act debuting the new songs of BAT OUT OF HELL III: The Monster is Loose.
When Meat Loaf rocked London in October, two national British newspapers, The Independent and The Guardian, awarded the show 4 stars out of 4, observing that “Bat out of Hell is as close as rock music has got to a Hollywood Blockbuster” (The Independent), and that “...parents are now bringing their children along to gigs, the Bat franchise shows no sign of abating.” Metro praised the show’s “grandiose...imposing splendor,” adding that MEAT LOAF’s “lungs remain mighty enough to raise the roof.”
BAT OUT OF HELL III: The Monster is Loose was produced by hit-maker Desmond Child, and was made with the close participation of two key Bat Out of Hell veterans: Todd Rundgren, contributing vocal arrangements; and Jim Steinman, writing seven songs. It was mixed by Grammy Award-winning studio engineer Greg Collins (U2, Gwen Stefani), with string arrangements by David Campbell. Guests on the album include Motley Crue bassist Nikki Sixx and Rob Zombie guitarist John 5 (ex-Marilyn Manson) who co-wrote the title track with Child. Also, the album includes the guitar work of co-writer Steve Vai, John 5 and production/session whiz John Shanks, as well as an unmistakable signature appearance by legendary Queen guitarist Brian May on “Bad For Good.”
MEAT LOAF’s Bat Out Of Hell (1977) and Bat Out Of Hell II: Back Into Hell (1993) combined have sold nearly 50 million copies worldwide. The international chart-topper “I’d Do Anything For Love (But I Won’t Do That),” from Bat Out Of Hell II, earned MEAT LOAF a Grammy for Best Rock Vocal Solo Performance.

‘BAT OUT OF HELL 3’ TOPS THE CHARTS AROUND THE WORLD "THREE OUT OF THREE AIN’T BAD" HALLOWEEN RELEASE OF ROCK’S MOST EPIC ADVENTURE
NEW YORK - October 31, 2006 - Thirteen years in the making, MEAT LOAF’s BAT OUT OF HELL III: The Monster is Loose, the third installment of rock’s greatest epic serial, was released today in the US and Canada by Virgin Records America.
The epic album was released throughout Europe last week and is the #2 selling album in Germany, #3 in the UK, #4 in Switzerland, #5 in Austria, #5 in Denmark, #6 in Norway, #8 in Holland, #9 in Australia and #5 in New Zealand. The album is scheduled to be released in Southern Europe, Southeast Asia and Japan early next year.
The project was the most ambitious, committed and emotional of his three-decade career, MEAT LOAF said recently. "I knew I would have to shoot for the moon, or the end of the universe, if I was going to do Bat Out Of Hell III. The Bat just has a life of its own, so you can’t say you’re gonna top it or you’re gonna beat it, you just have to try to do something special."
Critics agree that Meat has delivered an album worthy of the ‘Bat’ franchise:
Entertainment Weekly raves, ""Meat Loaf delivers his most impassioned vocals since the original ‘Bat’ in 1977. "(Entertainment Weekly, 11/3, Chris Willman).
"30 years after the original "Bat" made Loaf a star, he returns with ‘Bat III,’ a disc that recalls the original's theatrical bombast, anthemic melodies and guitar shred."
- (New York Post 10/29, Dan Aquillante)
"Loaf delivers an album that fans are going to love." (Billboard 11/4)
Just days after album release, on the evening of November 2, 2006, MEAT LOAF will star at New York’s fabled Palace Theater in Bat on Broadway, a one-night-only spectacular bringing the grand rush of arena-scale rock to a theater of 1,700 seats. Each of the show’s three acts is devoted to the songs of the albums, in sequence, with the third act debuting the new songs of BAT OUT OF HELL III: The Monster is Loose.
"Broadway is an opportunity for fans and critics to see Bat Out Of Hell III stand up to the two previous albums the way Europeans saw it at Royal Albert Hall earlier this month. Three out of three ain’t bad," said Meat Loaf manager and CEO of Tenth Street Entertainment Allen Kovac.
When Meat Loaf rocked London’s Royal Albert Hall earlier this month, astonished British critics were left grasping for superlatives worthy of the event: two national newspapers, The Independent and The Guardian awarded the show 4 stars out of 4, observing that "Bat out of Hell is as close as rock music has got to a Hollywood Blockbuster" (The Independent), and that "...parents are now bringing their children along to gigs, the Bat franchise shows no sign of abating." Metro praised the show’s "grandious...imposing splendor," adding that MEAT LOAF’s "lungs remain mighty enough to raise the roof." Addressing the artist’s recent statements that BAT OUT OF HELL III may be the final episode in this greatest of rock franchises, the Guardian stated, "If this is [Meat Loaf's] last hurrah, then it is hard not to feel the world of music will be a less enjoyable place.
BAT OUT OF HELL III: The Monster is Loose was produced by hit-maker Desmond Child, and was made with the close participation of two key Bat Out of Hell veterans: Todd Rundgren, contributing vocal arrangements and Jim Steinman, writing seven songs. It was mixed by Grammy Award winning studio engineer Greg Collins (U2, Gwen Stefani), with string arrangements by David Campbell. Studio guests include Motley Crue bassist Nikki Sixx and Rob Zombie guitarist John 5 (ex-Marilyn Manson) who co-wrote the title track with Child. Guitar hero Steve Vai is also a co-writer. Also, the album includes the guitar work of Vai, John 5 and production/session whiz John Shanks, as well as an unmistakable signature appearance by Queen guitarist Brian May on "Bad For Good."
MEAT LOAF’s Bat Out Of Hell (1977) and Bat Out Of Hell II: Back Into Hell (1993) combined have sold nearly 50 million copies worldwide. The international chart-topper "I’d Do Anything For Love (But I Won’t Do That)" earned a Grammy for Best Rock Vocal Solo Performance.

Last summer, k-os held the honor of the highest attended Canadian Hip-Hop concert ever with his Toronto show at the Molson Amphitheatre - resulting in his double platinum selling ?Publicity Stunt? DVD.
With three Juno Awards, four MuchMusic Video Awards, six Canadian Urban Music Awards and a Source Award already to his credit, it will be exciting to see what is in store for k-os next. Especially, with the exceptional reviews for Atlantis - Hymns for Disco that keep rolling in...
"Heavenly lyrics, wicked tunes." - Globe + Mail

K-os releases "Atlantis - Hymns for Disco" in 2007!
Oct 13, 2006
K-os PERFECTS HIS ALTERNATIVE/RAP VISION ON VIRGIN RECORDS 2007 RELEASE ‘ATLANTIS - Hymns for Disco’
CANADIAN PERFORMER/PRODUCER IS ALREADY A NARAS GRAMMY NOMINEE, SOURCE AWARD AND JUNO AWARD WINNER
NEW YORK - Virgin Records artist k-os has completed his third album, ATLANTIS - Hymns for Disco, for early 2007 release in the U.S. Already a platinum-plus artist in his native Canada, k-os arrives at U.S. alternative and pop radio as a confirmed rule-breaker. With this deeply expressive new album, k-os claims a place among such genre-blending, out-of-the-box visionaries as the Beastie Boys, Beck, Gnarls Barkley, Lupe Fiasco and OutKast.
Track for track, ATLANTIS - Hymns for Disco emerges as a highly personal work with a breadth of style that is, at once, imposing proof of an uncontainable talent, a salute to the adventuresome taste of his followers, and an in-your-face creative challenge thrown down to songwriters, producers, singers and rappers everywhere.
The first video from the album, "ELEctrik HeaT - the seekwiLL" will be added in mid-October to VH-1 Soul’s playlist as a "Soul Spotlight" video, receiving nearly 100 spins in its first week and 50 power rotation spins the next. It will also be featured on FUSE’s daily afternoon show, Oven Fresh, the week of October 16th. When Canadian iTunes debuted "ELEctrik HeaT - the seekwiLL" as "Single of the Week" in mid-August, the track became the most-downloaded "Single of the Week" in history, within two weeks.
ATLANTIS - Hymns for Disco runs through as a series of brilliant, uncategorizable tracks, the first official U.S. single, "Sunday Morning," "flypaper," "Born To Run," and "Black Ice - Hymn for Disco" among the highlights -- every one of them addictively rhythmic and brim-full of melody. Also among the album’s kaleidoscopically diverse pleasures: an ingeniously mashed-up trip back to day one of pop music’s big bang, "Equalizer;" and also "ELEctrik HeaT - the seekwiLL" and "CatDiesel," both based on classic break-beat loops and old-school rhyming style.
"Valhalla" features guest Kevin Drew of the Montreal collective Broken Social Scene, along with Sam Roberts. A warm vocal vibe taken from American R&B and his own Trinidadian heritage imbues the insinuating beat and vocal of "Mirror in the Sky," as well as the retro-soul "The Rain," a stone R&B ballad in the tradition of "It’s a Man’s, Man’s, Man’s World" and "Every Little Bit Hurts." Another celebrated figure in Canadian hip-hop, buck 65, joins k-os for the concluding "ballad of Noah."
k-os was raised in the suburban Toronto area. He chose his professional name to reflect the "knowledge of self." He first impressed the local music scene with two singles in the mid-1990s. His second album, 2004’s Joyful Rebellion, has now sold nearly double-platinum in Canada, and the single "Crabbuckit" is universally credited as a landmark in Canadian progressive hip-hop. He has shared the stage with such forward-looking artists as India.Arie, Floetry and John Legend - the latter of whom opened for k-os before a sellout crowd of 16,000 at Toronto’s Molson Amphitheater.
His collaboration with the Chemical Brothers, "Get Yourself High," was a 2005 Grammy nominee in the category of Best Dance Recording, and his first Virgin Records Canada album, Exit, was honored at the 2003 Source Awards as International Album of the Year. k-os also won three 2005 Juno Awards, including Single of the Year ("Crabbuckit") and Video of the Year ("B-Boy Stance"). ATLANTIS - Hymns for Disco is shipping platinum at its October release in Canada.
KT Tunstall releases her Acoustic Extravaganza!

KT TUNSTALL CD/DVD PACKAGE ‘ACOUSTIC EXTRAVAGANZA’ SET FOR U.S. RELEASE
‘EYE TO THE TELESCOPE’ ACHIEVES PLATINUM U.S. SALES IN EIGHT-MONTH ALBUM CHART RUN
NEW YORK - As a thank-you gesture to the American fans who have driven U.S. sales of her debut album to 1 million copies, Virgin Records is releasing ACOUSTIC EXTRAVAGANZA, a special CD/DVD package by KT TUNSTALL. The CD audio program contains several new songs, “unplugged” versions of album tracks from EYE TO THE TELESCOPE, and a unique cover of Beck’s song “Golden Age.” The DVD includes documentary video footage filmed in Scotland and Ireland, accompanying three live full-song performances.
The album and DVD package was a personal project for Tunstall, who recorded all of it in a brief two-day period, and even supervised the artwork herself. It was originally a limited edition release available only through Tunstall’s U.K. website and as a digital download. The package will go to American retail on October 17, 2006. The audio material was recorded on the Isle of Skye, off the coast of Scotland, and produced by Telescope album producer Steve Osborne. CD tracks include acoustic versions of the EYE TO THE TELESCOPE album cuts “Universe and U” and “Miniature Disasters,” along with an unplugged version of the pre-album song “Throw Me a Rope.”
Tunstall’s debut album, certified by RIAA this week for platinum sales in the U.S., has proven to be one of the most persistent artist breakouts this year. “Black Horse and the Cherry Tree,” among the year’s most popular radio and video hits, held the national No. 1 spot at the Hot AC format through most of July and August. Eight months after album release, the song maintains Top 5 national Adult Contemporary airplay. The follow-up smash, “Suddenly I See,” hit the Top Ten in Adult Alternative airplay following its prominent placement as the opening theme of the hit film comedy The Devil Wears Prada. It also was heard this month as the pilot episode closing song of the new television season’s top-rated debut series, Ugly Betty.

The Good the Bad and the Queen - Damon Albarn releases new album in January of 07
Oct 06, 2006
THE GOOD THE BAD AND THE QUEEN - Damon Albarn, Paul Simonon, Tony Allen and Simon Tong - ALBUM OUT JANUARY 2007
"I thought just as an experiment, how would Tony and Paul sound together?"--Damon Albarn
The Good, The Bad and The Queen is a new project featuring Damon Albarn (Blur/Gorillaz), Paul Simonon (The Clash), Tony Allen (Fela Kuti/Africa 70) and Simon Tong (The Verve).
The first seeds of the endeavor can be traced back to 2002, when Damon Albarn first worked with Tony Allen. Two years later Tony and Simon Tong (The Verve) would join Damon at Aphrodisia studios in Lagos for two weeks of recording.
Then in 2005 Damon met with Paul Simonon (The Clash) to discuss the idea of working together. Damon invited Paul to hear the Nigeria recordings and upon hearing them, he commented, "I came down to listen to two tracks, and I could hear a bass line for it immediately. We thought 'Let's give it a go...' and we basically started from that... and we started a whole new record."
The four-piece will make its live debut, playing the album in its entirety at a sold-out date at London's Roundhouse on October 26th as part of the BBC's Electric Proms.
The Good, The Bad and The Queen, produced by Danger Mouse, is due out January 2007. The album will be preceded by first single, "Herculean," going to UK Radio on October 9th. The artwork for the limited edition single is by the album's bass player Paul Simonon.
RBD Releases debut English album on Virgin Records
Oct 06, 2006
RBD ALBUM ‘REBELS’ TO CONQUER U.S. MAINSTREAM ON VIRGIN RECORDS AMERICA DECEMBER 26, 2006
LEAD-OFF SINGLE, ‘TU AMOR’ IS INSTANT BREAKOUT ALL OVER U. S. TOP 40 RADIO
Already a Multi-Media, Multi-National Phenomenon, RBD’s Track Record Includes International Multi-Platinum Album Sales, Sold -Out American Arena Tour
Dulce Maria* Anahí * Maite* Christopher * Alfonso * Christian
NEW YORK - "Tu Amor," the first single released to U.S. radio by Virgin Records international pop phenomenon RBD, is proving itself to be a mainstream smash -- in a matter of days, not weeks. Within just three days of release, the song was all over the four most-listened-to Top 40 stations in the country, among a nationwide crowd of 30 leader stations in Top 40 and Rhythmic formats. Based on heavy first-week spins, "Tu Amor" is already the 16th most-played record on New York’s powerhouse WHTZ/Z-100. It is also No. 8 in airplay, and the No. 1 request by e-mail on Los Angeles’ KIIS-FM, which leaked the song ahead of its official airdate. The song is expected to make an immediate national Top 40 debut, on both mainstream and rhythmic radio charts.
In a unique show of total belief in the song and RBD, Riverside, Calif. Rhythmic station KWIE/Wild 96 played "Tu Amor" continuously last weekend, putting the song on ‘repeat’ and tallying almost 500 plays, immediately putting the song in the top 20 most-played songs of the year on the station. With other airplay hotspots throughout Texas, Illinois, Florida and California, the song was played over 1700 times in its first week of national radio availability.
RBD has already sold over two million copies of their Spanish-language albums in the United States, and their U.S. tour of spring 2006 was a complete sell-out of such arena-sized venues as the L.A. Coliseum, Miami’s American Airlines Arena, and New York’s Madison Square Garden. REBELS, the group’s English language debut, will be released on Virgin Records on December 26, 2006. It reprises six of the biggest RBD hits from their previous Spanish albums in English, and adds six newly-recorded tracks, including "Tu Amor," written by master tunesmith Diane Warren ("Un-Break My Heart," "I Don’t Want To Miss a Thing," "Because You Loved Me").
RBD comprises the six lead actors of the Mexican telenovela Rebelde, which debuted on Televisa in October 2004, and became a national obsession, drawing a massive viewership of 23 percent of all Mexican households. Following the release of an album in January 2005, the show’s musical element became so popular that artists ranging from Lenny Kravitz to Hilary Duff appeared on Rebelde to promote their music in the Latin market; Gorillaz even chose to debut their "Dare" video on Rebelde, rather than on MTV Mexico. Fan demand in Brazil lead the group to re-cut both of their first two albums in Portuguese, resulting in multi-platinum sales, and RBD is to headline Rio de Janeiro’s 120,000-seat Maracana Stadium, the world’s largest venue, in October.
Rebelde wrapped in summer 2005 as the country’s longest-running telenovela ever, with 440 episodes, which continue to air in the U.S., Asia, Indonesia, and in over a dozen other countries. RBD’s debut Spanish album Rebelde won Best Pop Album of the Year at the 2006 Billboard Latin Music Awards - and two other 2005 releases, Nuestro Amor and the live Tour Generación RBD en Vivo took three of the four nominations in the category. A feature film and a new spin-off show with the RBD stars are currently in development.

Massive Attack Triumphantly returns to the United States
Sep 19, 2006
Los Angeles, CA – Massive Attack triumphantly returned to the United States with three stellar shows in Houston, Austin, and Dallas, Texas over this past weekend. The full band, featuring vocalists Elizabeth Fraser (Cocteau Twins) and Horace Andy pleased thousands of fans that have anticipated their return for eight long years. On Saturday, September 16th, Massive Attack played to a crowd of over 50,000 mesmerized concertgoers headlining Austin City Limits. The show was the buzz of festival as the Austin American Statesman heralded, “Massive Attack was the definition of calm and collected class…[and] brought its sonic landscape of ethereal trip-hop to ACL’s AT&T Stage for a headlining slot that was nothing short of spectacular.”
Massive Attack continues their first North American tour in eight years with shows across the country. And, with the Texas shows a clear indication of what to expect, their live show is, without a doubt, a rare musical event not to be missed.
Ima Robot Tours With All American Rejects
Sep 15, 2006
IMA ROBOT WILL TOUR IN OCTOBER WITH ALL-AMERICAN REJECTS
MONTH-LONG SLATE OF DATES COINCIDES WITH BUILDING ON-LINE AND RADIO BUZZ FOR ‘CREEPS ME OUT,’ FIRST SINGLE FROM NEW VIRGIN RECORDS ALBUM
NEW YORK - Virgin Records electro-rockers IMA ROBOT are joining All American Rejects on the road for a series of dates that spans most of the month of October. The tour follows the release this week of the second IMA ROBOT album, MONUMENT TO THE MASSES, and the conclusion of a summer tour series with She Wants Revenge.
The band is penetrating every level of new and old media in the early phase of album release: The album’s irresistibly danceable kick-off single, -Creeps Me Out" is already pulling Top 5 phone requests at Los Angeles’ Indie 103, and is currently listed as No. 2 alternative specialty record in Friday Morning Quarterback.
A special album premiere and feature, along with a fan video contest, has triggered over 1 million total plays of new album tracks on the IMA ROBOT Myspace page. Also, the group has taped a live studio performance for -Critical Eye," part of Yahoo!'s -Who's Next" program, featured on the Yahoo! Music website front page. Following a live concert gig by the band, David Herstein (better known as Doctor Sinister of Sinister Sounds, www.live365.com <http://www.live365.com/> ) raved: -They were excellent, and I'll be playing every cut off the new CD, probably till the next one comes out!"
"Creeps Me Out" will be used in the forthcoming Playstation 2 videogame ATV Off Road Fury 4. Over 3 million copies have been pre-ordered of the new installment of this popular series.
Since the release of IMA ROBOT’s first Virgin Records album, -Ima Robot," in 2003, the band has drawn enthusiastic comparisons to Devo, David Bowie, the Cars and Iggy Pop, and is now clearly positioned to take leadership of the electro-rock movement they helped foment in modern music.

Over It releases debut album "Step Outside Yourself"
Sep 07, 2006
OVER IT RELEASES VIRGIN DEBUT ALBUM, EXTENDS 2006 TOUR INTO MID-FALL
‘STEP OUTSIDE YOURSELF’ ALBUM IN STORES AUGUST 29
NEW YORK - Young, strong, fast, smart and ready: that’s the progress report for OVER IT, the pop-punk quintet whose hard-thrashing major-label debut STEP OUTSIDE YOURSELF, is being released August 29th on Virgin Records.
With OVER IT’s fifth go-round on the Vans Warped Tour just wound up, the five-man assemblage powers into their Virgin Records album release as a road-tested band, to say the least: their strong international grass-roots following has bought tens of thousands of their three indie-released CDs, and packed out the band’s career total of over 700 live shows over the last four years.
The members of OVER IT, Peter Munters (vocals, guitar), Nick Bailey (guitar, vocals), Seth Watts (bass guitar, vocals) and James Ulrich (drums) (joined earlier this year by new member and guitar genius Ryan Ogren, formerly of Don’t Look Down) forged their melodic, powerfully emotional and sharp-edged sound as young college undergrads. -We just like to play loud; we like to play fast; we like to play energetic and angsty; but we also like infectious, timeless pop music, and that’s what we were raised on,” says frontman Munters.
Appropriately, OVER IT has drawn repeated praise for - not so much pushing the boundaries of the screamo envelope, but spitting it back at the mailbox” (Hammer). The album track -Siren on the 101” is -ridiculously catchy,” adds Alternative Press, and -one of the best singles you’ll hear all year” (Revolver). A spring tour with Yellowcard took the band to eighteen college campuses in less than two months, and OVER IT will stay on the road for the rest of the summer, and into October.

Janet Jackson Scores 30th Top 10 Single
Aug 28, 2006
With its Number 9 position, "Call On Me," has become Janet Jackson's 30th Top 10 single on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. The R&B superstar is now tied with R. Kelly for scoring the most Top 10 singles since Billboard began deriving chart information from Nielsen SoundScan data in 1992. Since then, Janet has had 15 chart-topping hits to Kelly's 11, and seven consecutive Number One's, including "That's The Way Love Goes," "Again," "Any Time, Any Place/And On And On," "Together Again," "I Get Lonely," "Doesn't Really Matter," and "All For You." The breezy, laid-back "Call On Me," featuring St. Louis hip-hop star Nelly, is the lead-off single from Janet's upcoming album 20 Y.O., which will be released by Virgin Records on September 26th. The second single from the album, "So Excited," featuring rapper Khia, will be released to radio today. Dupri premiered the track on his radio show on Atlanta's V-103 last weekend. Janet began shooting the video for the song in Los Angeles on August 23rd with noted director Joseph Kahn, who also directed her clip for "Doesn't Really Matter." 20 Y.O. marks the anniversary of Janet's career-making 1986 album, Control, re-teaming her with her original collaborators, legendary hit makers Jimmy "Jam" Harris and Terry Lewis, and Grammy-Award winner Jermaine Dupri. Look for Janet on the cover of this month's issue of Vibe magazine.

Janet Changes the Title of Album to "20 Y.O."
Aug 09, 2006
JANET JACKSON CHANGES TITLE OF NEW ALBUM CD HITTING STORES ON SEPTEMBER 26TH NOW TO BE TITLED "20 Y.O."
New York, NY - Janet Jackson has decided to change the title of her upcoming album from "20 Years Old" to "20 Y.O." at the suggestion of fans participating in an album cover design contest the R&B superstar is holding on Yahoo! Music. On July 17th, Janet - in conjunction with Yahoo! - launched "Design Me" (http://designme.janetjackson.com) in which fans were able to download and "remix" images of the singer to come up with their own album covers. Four winners are to have their designs grace the first one million copies of Janet’s new album.
When several fans submitted designs with covers that read "20 Y.O." instead of "20 Years Old", Janet liked it so much, she decided to officially change the album’s title. The CD hits stores on September 26th. The design competition has stirred up anticipation for the music icon’s new album, which executive producer Jermaine Dupri promises will "blow a new generation of minds" as it marks the anniversary of Janet’s career-making 1986 album, Control. Cover Art for Janet Jackson's New Album " 20 YEARS OLD " to be to designed by fans in online contest
Jul 21, 2006
Tuesday, July 18, 2006 " New York, NY " In an exciting promotion for her upcoming album 20 Years Old, R&B-pop superstar Janet Jackson is asking her fans to submit designs for the album’s cover through a contest held in conjunction with Yahoo! Music. Four winners will see their designs grace the cover of Janet’s new album when the CD hits stores on September 26th.
Beginning July 18th at 12noon PST, for one week, 33 images of Janet will be posted at http://music.yahoo.com/janetjackson. Fans can download and “remix” the photographs to come up with their own version of the new album’s cover. Designs will each be assigned a link that users can send to friends and family.
The top four scoring finalists, as determined by Janet, will be declared the contest’s grand prize winners, and will see their design appear on selected publicly distributed copies of 20 Years Old. The remaining 16 finalists will be deemed runners-up, and will receive Janet’s entire album catalog on CD.
The design competition promises to stir up anticipation for the release of 20 Years Old, an album that executive producer Jermaine Dupri promises will “blow a new generation of minds” as it marks the anniversary of Janet’s career-making 1986 album, Control. Janet has re-teamed with her original collaborators, legendary hitmakers Jimmy “Jam” Harris and Terry Lewis, for 20 Years Old, which she has described as a celebration of what was going on musically back in the day when Control was released. The album’s first single is the breezy, laid-back "Call On Me," featuring St. Louis hip-hop star Nelly, which hit radio on June 19th and has already cracked the Top 40 pop chart and is a Top 15 track at urban radio.

Sleepy Brown's Solo Album due out Oct 3rd!
Jul 17, 2006
CALL HIM "MR. BROWN"
SLEEPY BROWN’S SOLO DEBUT ALBUM TO ARRIVE ON PURPLE RIBBON/VIRGIN ON OCTOBER 3rd, 2006.
Multi-Talented, Much-Respected Grammy Winner’s Music Video "Margarita" Set For Major July Premieres
NEW YORK -- One of the most valuable players in urban music steps to center stage as SLEEPY BROWN’s first Purple Ribbon/Virgin album, "MR. BROWN" arrives in stores September 26th, 2006. His debut as a solo artist comes after more than a decade of respected production and songwriting work in the R&B and hip-hop fields.
Although Sleepy Brown is best known to the mass public for his sterling vocal work on the OutKast singles "The Way You Move" and "So Fresh, So Clean," the new album’s lead-off single, "Margarita," will inevitably make Sleepy’s own name with its potent cocktail of sensual vocals and irresistible rhythms, produced by the hit-making Neptunes, featuring guest spots by the Neptunes’ own Pharrell Williams, and longtime OutKast collaborator/Purple Ribbon label head Big Boi.
Brown’s deep and diverse list of credits as a member of the pioneering Atlanta-based Organized Noize production team includes production and co-production of the first four OutKast albums, including the Grammy-winning Stankonia, and classic singles by TLC ("Waterfalls"), En Vogue ("Don’t Let Go [Love]"), and others. The solo album "MR. BROWN" promises to be as original and innovative as these production successes – while continuing to champion the genuine musical values of vintage R&B.
The "Margarita" music video featuring Big Boi and Pharrell shot in Majorca, Spain is debuting with major coverage on several VH-1 outlets, including special July 17th world premiere events on VH-1.com and on the VH-1 Soul cable channel, where it plays every hour on the hour and is added in power rotation. The video will also be added on the same day to the MTV Jams channel August 10th. The making-of story of the "Margarita" clip is featured on MTV2’s Makes a Video program on July 31st.
"Margarita" is currently bulleting on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles and Tracks chart, where it debuted last month. SLEEPY BROWN has previously charted on the Rap Singles and R&B chart in collaborations with Ludacris and Murphy Lee, but it was his blissful and melodious vocal work on OutKast’s "The Way You Move" that made for his first Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 in early 2004. Taking over that position from the previous OutKast single, "Hey Ya!" it was only the seventh time in pop chart history that any artist succeeded its own record at No. 1.

Janet Jackson New Album set to release September 26th!
Jun 26, 2006
"IT WAS TWENTY YEARS AGO TODAY"
JANET JACKSON’S ‘20 YEARS OLD’TO BE RELEASED SEPTEMBER 26, 2006 ON VIRGIN, SET TO RECAPTURE THE MAGIC OF LANDMARK 1986 ALBUM ‘CONTROL’
Music Icon Janet Jackson Re-Teams With Legendary Hitmakers Jimmy "Jam"- Harris And Terry Lewis And Album Executive Producer Jermaine "JD"- Dupri
New York City (June 12, 2006) - Few albums in the history of American
music have ever had the far-reaching and lasting artistic impact of
superstar JANET JACKSON’s 1986 Control. From its empowered message and
songcraft, to its genre-defining production, and the extraordinarily
compelling emergence of the singer as a musically complete artist,
Control was immediately greeted as the watershed album - and Jackson
the definitive artist -- in no less than three distinct musical
categories - pop, R&B and hip-hop.
With the hotly-anticipated release of the new JANET JACKSON album 20
YEARS OLD scheduled this September on Virgin Records, her new work
promises to be no less influential, as Jackson teams with the most
successful pop/R&B producer of the post-2000 period, Jermaine ‘JD’
Dupri, and longtime friends and hitmakers Jimmy "Jam- Harris and Terry
Lewis, her original collaborators on Control. The four now make up an
unparalleled dream team of talent behind the microphone and the mixing
board. Just as Control marked a personal rebirth and a smashing
creative achievement twenty years ago, 20 YEARS OLD celebrates, at
once, two decades of continued growth, as well as the essential newness
of creativity. The set’s lead single, "Call on Me,- featuring St. Louis
hip-hop star Nelly, will arrive at radio on June 19th.
The six powerful and innovative hit songs and videos that came off
Control - "What Have You Done for Me Lately,- "Nasty,- "When I Think of
You,- "The Pleasure Principle,- the title track, and "Let’s Wait
Awhile- -- were minutely examined by fans and young performers, and
they launched a thousand admirers and imitators through the balance of
the Eighties and the Nineties. Jackson’s revolutionary video clips have
continued to be acknowledged as the true classics of the music video
era, whose dance style and cinematic production values set the bar
higher than anyone had ever dared attempt. Still, for young female
listeners, it was the imaginative and liberated lyric content that
resonated most - just the way that the producers and co-writers Jam
& Lewis realized it would, as Jackson’s witty, honest and intimate
poems took shape as songs in their Minneapolis-based Flyte Tyme studio
in late 1985. Control sold over 5 million copies in the U.S. alone in
just three and a half years - at which time Jackson and Jam & Lewis
rocked the world again with the follow-up album, Rhythm Nation 1814.
With the collective track record involved, there’s no way to avoid high
expectations for the upcoming album - and no reason to. 20 YEARS OLD is
a sure thing to throw down the new standards, blow a new generation of
minds, light a fire under every young artist, and rock the party.
"Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis are musical powerhouses,- says Dupri.
"Our individual success have been unparalleled and have kept music fans
bouncing to our beats and singing our songs for years. The world
has no idea what they are about to experience - Janet has the best
production trio possible - and I guarantee, we will deliver!"-

The Bossman Story
Feb 06, 2006
http://bossman-music.com/
When you’re independent grind is successful in a major way, and your songs are ruling radio, major labels will take notice. Such was the case with 23-year-old Baltimore-native Travis Holifield, a.k.a. BOSSMAN. After selling 10,000 CDs in stores in only three weeks, major labels started calling. But it was Jermaine Dupri and his new Virgin Records powerhouse that beat the competition and signed BOSSMAN only 30 minutes after their introduction. Pulling his CD off shelves, BOSSMAN is now back in the studio, readying the release of his major label debut, LAW & ORDER.
"I’m calling the album LAW & ORDER because the #1 law in Hip-Hop is to be original and be yourself," explains BOSSMAN. "That’s missing in music and I’m trying to bring that back. Then everything will fall into order. You will get what you want if you stick to the script." Injecting his true feelings into every song, BOSSMAN lives by the #1 rule. "That’s what glues you to somebody. I want to sell me, not just my music."
And that’s exactly what he did when he wrote and released his no-holds-barred joint, "Off The Record" from his first CD. Speaking his mind freely about controversial celebs like R. Kelly, Biggie and Tupac, BOSSMAN gained widespread notoriety in Baltimore, DC, Delaware, Virginia and Philly. Add to that sales of 25,000 mix tapes in B-more alone, and two more local radio faves, "O" and "I Did It," and BOSSMAN is credited with opening doors in his area for other Hip-Hop artists. And it doesn’t stop as BOSSMAN continues his radio presence with "Untouchable," a leaked record powered by the attention-grabbing, Biggie-assisted hook.
Growing up in Baltimore, Maryland meant 24/7 struggle. BOSSMAN had to constantly fight the people trying to pull him down as he started his climb to the top. But as history has shown, most great leaders have overcome obstacles, which have only pushed them to succeed. So in spite of his hardships endured as a youth - his father was heavy in the streets and both his mother and father spent time in jail - BOSSMAN insists it’s possible to make it another way. Watching the harmful effects of the game firsthand on his family, BOSSMAN decided to take the road less traveled in B-more. While his music can be called street, he’s not glorifying the life. He takes a negative and makes it a positive. As he sees it, there are no excuses for failure.
After all he’s been through; BOSSMAN knows all too well not to take life for granted. That his baby girl was born not breathing is just one example. Pulling from his arsenal of life experience, he’s pouring everything he has into his debut, and in doing so he’s raising the bar for rap lyricists. 2005 Hip-Hop needs BOSSMAN more than ever. "The last time we had quality music was when Biggie and Tupac were around," he relays. "Nas was bringing another side of rap, and Wu-Tang was bringing originality." For BOSSMAN, the goal is simple: To prove that underground and commercial music can meet, a style which he claims only Jay-Z has mastered. One minute with BOSSMAN and you’ll be convinced he’s up to the task. Stay tuned for BOSSMAN: LAW & ORDER.

Dem Franchize Boyz are No. 1!

DEM FRANCHIZE BOYZ
GET DOWN TO BUSINESS
WITH NO. 1 SMASH ‘I THINK THEY LIKE ME;’
Video, Promo Tour, Bow Wow Opening Spot
Spreading ‘Snaps Music’ Buzz Into 2006
NEW YORK -- Representing the Westside of Atlanta, and with platinum-plus stars Jermaine Dupri, Da Brat and Bow Wow guesting, So So Def/Virgin hip-hop quartet DEM FRANCHIZE BOYZ have proven themselves the breakout act of fall with their single, "I Think They Like Me (Remix)." The track has taken the No. 1 position in the mainstream urban radio format, following two months of weekly double-digit airplay increases, with solid Southern coverage branching out nationally. "I Think They Like Me" is also No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Rap Singles, a unit sales chart. The song is headed toward the national top 10 in the rhythmic crossover radio format, and is bulleting in the top 20 of the Billboard Hot 100 national singles chart. Virgin Records President, Urban Music, Jermaine Dupri commented on the broad impact of the group: "I’m so excited. DEM FRANCHIZE BOYZ is a new group brought in when I came over to Virgin. So their success means that this is just the beginning -- and there’s a lot more to come."
"I Think They Like Me (Remix)" is originally taken from the So So Def/Virgin various-artist collection Jermaine Dupri Presents "Young, Fly & Flashy, Vol.1"-- the first album released under So So Def’s joint venture with Virgin. The track leads several Southern hip-hop tunes onto the national chart, in a newly emerging club-oriented style that’s been tagged "snaps" music by street-level music lovers. The "snaps" style strips even further the sparse but accessible electronic sound of the massively popular "crunk", focusing on vocal hooks, undeniable drumbeats and extremely minimal but ingenious special effects. The resulting dance floor vibe has been described by producers, disc jockeys and dancers alike as compulsively rhythmic -- and also oddly intimate. (Other hit tunes in the "snaps" style include "Wait [The Whisper Song]" by the Ying Yang Twins and D4L’s "Laffy Taffy") Virgin Records Executive Vice President, Urban Music, Lionel Ridenour said: "I’m sure this will be the first of many No. 1s for DFB and the ‘snaps’ music movement." The first album by DEM FRANCHIZE BOYZ, titled ON TOP OF OUR GAME, will be released on So So Def/Virgin on February 7th, 2006.
DFB, composed of Gerald "Buddie" Tiller, Bernard "Jizzal Man" Leverette, Maurice "Parlae" Gleaton, and producer Jamal "Pimpin" Willingham, are on the road to reinforce their group’s brand-name "franchize" in a continuing promo tour that will dovetail with the group’s opening spot on the late-December leg of track guest and fellow Atlanta star Bow Wow’s national tour.
Dedicated to educating the world about the Atlanta lifestyle, signs and symbols of DEM FRANCHIZE BOYZ’ smooth, soulful, laid-back brand of Southern crunk culture abound in the bouncing hit video for "I Think They Like Me" directed by Juwan Lee and Benny Boom, also co-directors of the current Ebony Eyez video "Take Me Back." The clip has been No.1 for an impressive two weeks on the voter-driven video countdown on BET’s "106th and Park," and is in high rotation on MTV2. The video is also the No. 6 most-viewed urban video on Yahoo! Music’s website and rising in the top 20 on the all-genre chart. (Benny Boom is also the director of recent hit videos by 50 Cent, Ciara, Nas, Nelly, Joung Jeezy, Pussycat Dolls and Keyshia Cole, among others).
Dem Franchize Boyz’ first national hit, "White Tee’s", enjoyed a 20-week run on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles chart, peaking at No. 25 in fall 2004. While promoting their first major album, the No. 18 Top R&B/Hip-Hop Album Dem Franchize Boyz (Universal, 2004), the group impressed Jermaine Dupri with their self-contained writing, producing and performing skills, and were signed to his So So Def/Virgin label.
DEM FRANCHIZE BOYZ TOUR DATES WITH BOW WOW
